Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn :: 3.29.18
:: Variety Playhouse :: Atlanta

Banjo pickers Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn continued a duo tour at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta on Thursday. The pair’s visit to Atlanta was one of their last performances before they take a break for Washburn to give birth as Abigail is seven months pregnant. Fleck and Washburn issued a self-titled debut album in 2014 and followed-up with Echo In The Valley last fall.

Thursday’s show opened the way Echo In The Valley does, with “Over The Divide.” Béla and Abigail wound up focusing on songs from the LP including a medley of “Sally In The Garden,” “Big Country” and “Put The Kettle On” as well as versions of “Take Me To Harlan,” “Don’t Let It Bring You Down,” “My Home’s Across The Blue Ridge Mountain,” “If I Could Talk To A Younger Me,” “Come All You Coal Miners” and “Bloomin’ Rose.” Fleck took a few solos along the way and the pair also worked in “Railroad,” “Little Birdie” and “New South Africa” from the duo’s 2014 self-titled studio album along with tunes from Washburn’s solo career. Lensman Ian Rawn has shared a gallery of photos from Thursday’s concert:
