Band of Heathens joined forces with Margo Price to cover Lucinda Williams‘ “Joy.” Audio of the collaborative “Joy” arrived today as the latest single from The Band Of Heathens’ upcoming Remote Transmissions, Vol. 1 album.
Due out on February 25 on BOH Records, Remote Transmissions, Vol. 1 features 10 covers recorded during The Band Of Heathens’ Good Time Supper Club livestream series. Each installment saw the band team with other musicians to cover a song for a pre-recorded video that aired as part of the episode. Both Margo Price and guitarist Alex Muñoz joined The Band Of Heathens to interpret the song Lucinda Williams originally released on her 1988 album, Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

“It was nice to be able to use music as a connective thread and something that’s healing,” noted The Band Of Heathens guitarist/vocalist Ed Jurdi of both the livestream series and collaborative covers. “We were doing it for ourselves, but the greatest benefit was how it created this community for us to hang out with our fans.”
“The show was like a release, where we all connected and forgot about the stuff going on around us,” added fellow BOH guitarist/vocalist Gordy Quist. “At some point, we decided to bring in guests for an interview, and that turned into ‘Hey, let’s pre-record a music video of a cover song with each of them.'”
Other collaborative covers included on Remote Transmissions, Vol. 1 include “Rock And Roll Doctor” (Little Feat) with White Denim’s James Petralli, “Tumbling Dice” (Rolling Stones) with Nicki Bluhm, “Night Moves” (Bob Seger) with Butch Walker and “The Man In Me” (Bob Dylan) with Hayes Carll. Ray Wylie Hubbard, Todd Snider, Robert Ellis, Mark Wystrach and Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr also joined The Band Of Heathens for songs featured on the upcoming covers compilation.
