Axl Rose Plays Last Guns N’ Roses Show With Slash Until 2016 On This Date In 1993

Famed rockers Guns N’ Roses are in the middle of the Not In This Lifetime Tour which marks the return of guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan to the Axl Rose-led band. There were decades where the thought of Slash sharing the stage with Axl seemed impossible and that GN’R’s July 17, 1993 show in Buenos Aires would always stand as the last time the pair played together. Guns N’ Roses’ final show of the Skin N’ Bones Tour, which took place 23 years ago today, was broadcast on Argentinian TV.
The band had played nearly 200 shows in two-and-a-half years leading up to the tour finale in Argentina. “I was definitely physically and mentally exhausted,” Slash told Guitar World in 2008 as per Ultimate Classic Rock. Slash also told Guitar World Duff “was in dire need of some serious rehabilitation” following the lengthy tour. Despite the exhaustion, GN’R treated fans in Buenos Aires to a fantastic performance.
Guns N’ Roses played six classics from Appetite For Destruction at Estadio River Plate and mixed in a handful of songs from each Use Your Illusion LP as well as Misfits, Rolling Stones, Todd Rundgren, Bob Dylan and Wings covers.
