Audio & Video: moe. Fits Rarities, Covers & Jams Within Cambridge Run Opener
By Scott Bernstein Apr 7, 2017 • 2:00 pm PDT
On Wednesday night moe. kicked off a four-night stand at The Sinclair in Cambridge, Massachusetts that continues tonight and concludes on Saturday. Fans have been raving about Wednesday’s show since the band left the stage and now that audio has surfaced, those who weren’t in attendance can judge for themselves.
Over the course of the entire evening there were few breaks in the action. moe. opened with “Happy Hour Hero” and jammed the song into one of their oldest and rarest songs, “Johnny Lineup.” Wednesday’s “Johnny Lineup” was the first played in the Northeast since 2012. The band extended the obscurity beyond the 15-minute mark before landing on “Annihilation Blues.” A “Hi & Lo” > “Big World” > “Ricky Marten” sequence came next and was followed by a wild “Timmy Tucker.” moe. patiently worked through each section of the beloved classic with guitarists Al Schnier and Chuck Garvey both delivering powerful solos.
Wednesday’s second set was one huge, seamless “Rebubula” sandwich. The five-piece opened with most of the song and instead of finishing the tune, they segued into Pink Floyd’s “Happiest Days Of Our Lives” > “Another Brick In The Wall.” Out of The Wall sequence came a “Spine Of The Dog” complete with the 2017 debut of “Canned Pastries” within. moe. worked the “Spine Of The Dog” jam into the conclusion of “Rebubula” to end the adventurous second set. The band still had a few tricks up their sleeves for an encore which featured covers of “Karma Police” by Radiohead and Pink Floyd’s “Interstellar Overdrive” as well as their own “Awesome Gary.” Check out full show audio and videos of “Timmy Tucker” and the first part of “Rebubula” below.
