Animated Video | Allman Brothers Band – Statesboro Blues

Late last month The Allman Brothers Band issued The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings, a box set documenting the group’s legendary run of shows at the iconic NYC venue. To celebrate the new release, the Allmans enlisted Brett Underhill to create an animated video for “Statesboro Blues” and the resulting clip is absolutely amazing.

The video below, which premiered on CMT Edge, features Pop-Up Video-esque captions that tell the story of “Statesboro Blues” and the Allman Brothers Band. We learn that the group was nearly called Beezlebub, that Taj Mahal’s version of “Statesboro” inspired Duane Allman to play slide and many more interesting facts.
