Animal Collective delivered a Tiny Desk (Home) Concert. The quartet performed songs from their new album,Time Skiffs, as well as an unreleased song for the NPR Music performance video series.

As with most Animal Collective shows, visual art plays a huge part in their Tiny Desk. So it was fitting that the band — Panda Bear, Geologist, Deakin and Avey Tare — offered their Tiny Desk (Home) Concert from the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, or MASS MoCA, in North Adams. As NPR Music’s Bob Boilen noted, the band opted for more performance art rather than light design — with a masked, hooded figure cutting out pieces of colored paper at a small desk to nod to the series.

Animal Collective began their session with Time Skiffs’ opener “Dragon Slayer.” From there the quartet flows into the LP’s second track, “Car Keys.” The session ends, however, with an unreleased song the band has played live since 2019 called “King’s Walk,” which Boilen says is “for those truly dedicated to the collective.”
