Andrew Altman Of Railroad Earth Releases EP

Last year, Railroad Earth bassist Andrew Altman spent time in the studio with Tom Hamilton of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Brothers Past & American Babies fame. Altman has released a self-titled, five-song EP produced by Hamilton -who also performs on the EP.

Andrew has previously contributed Andrew a couple songs to the RRE catalog in the past, but this is his first collection of all original material. “I sent Tom ten songs and told him to pick five, tell me when to play, and when to shut up. We worked off and on about 6 months at Peter Tramo’s studio in Philly, and it was a liberating experience because it put me in the mindset of a session player even though it was my own session. If you trust the person leading it all, as I did with Tom, then it’s perfect because you can drop all the obsessing and doubt that, for me, usually comes with making decisions about your own music. I really feel like the end result is a record and not just a recording of songs,” Altman explained.

“Working on the Andrew Altman EP was a blast. Drew and I had been playing together a bit with American Babies and when he mentioned working together on his material in the studio, I was stoked. He has a great ear for melody and form. From the first listen to even the roughest demos, it was clear that Andrew takes the craft seriously. I’m proud to have helped these songs take shape and be a part of Altman’s evolution into a solo artist,” Hamilton added.

The EP is available via CDBaby and other retailers. You can stream the EP via Spotify below:
