Phil Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band headlined the Revival Festival at Harmony Park in Geneva, Minnesota. On what would have been her late father Levon Helm’s birthday, fellow festival performer Amy Helm joined the Grateful Dead bassist and his band mates on a performance of a classic The Band song.
Phil Lesh was supported by his son Grahame Lesh on guitar, Ross James also on guitar, Alex Koford on drums and Jason Crosby on keyboards. They opened their first set with “Bertha” and progressed through Dead favorites “West L.A. Fadeaway,” “New Speedway Boogie” and “Scarlet Begonias.” James then took the ensemble through his original “West,” which was followed by “Uncle John’s Band” and the elder Lesh’s “Box Of Rain.”
The second set began with a lengthy sequence that strung together “Mason’s Children,” “He’s Gone,” “The Other One” and “Unbroken Chain.” The set packed with Dead favorites continued with “The Wheel” and the triad of “Help On The Way,” “Slipknot!” and “Franklin’s Tower.” A sprawling “Playing In The Band” closed out the second half of the headliners’ performance. Phil & Co. returned for an encore rendition of “The Weight” that saw Amy Helm emerge to add additional vocals to final song of the night.
