On February 23, 1991 the Allman Brothers Band played the cozy confines of Rafter’s in Crested Butte, Colorado. The entire concert was filmed for a VH-1 special. While VH-1 only aired 75 minutes of the show, footage of the full performance – which included a pair of special guests – circulates on YouTube.
The lineup featured in the video below includes founding members Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Jaimoe and Butch Trucks joined by guitarist Warren Haynes and bassist Allen Woody. Percussionist Marc Quinones would be added to the group later in 1991. The Allmans kicked off the two-and-a-half-hour performance with the classic “Don’t Want You No More”/”It’s Not My Cross To Bear” combo. Gregg then leads his mates through “Statesboro Blues” before Dickey fronts the band on “Blue Sky.”

After “Low Down Dirty Mean,” the Allmans brought out keyboardist Bruce Hornsby and saxophonist Dave Koz for a riotous “Southbound.” The six-piece then serves up a triple dose of their recently released Seven Turns LP in the form of “Good Clean Fun,” “Loaded Dice” and “Gambler’s Roll.” It’s within the “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed” that follows in which we get to see the lineup’s jamming chops. From there, Hornsby returns for “One Way Out” ahead of ABB classics “Ramblin’ Man,” “True Gravity,” “Jessica” and “Whipping Post.”
