Watch Aaron Neville Team With Ivan Neville, Dirty Dozen Brass Band & More For ‘Stompin’ Ground’

New Orleans legends Aaron Neville, Ivan Neville and George Porter Jr. teamed up with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and more for the new song “Stompin’ Ground.” The track is set to land on the soundtrack for the upcoming documentary, Take Me To The River: New Orleans, due out on April 1 via Petaluma Records.

Directed by Martin Shore, Take Me To The River: New Orleans “celebrates the undeniable musical history, heritage, legacy, culture, and influence of New Orleans and Louisiana,” as per a press release. The New Orleans film follows Shore’s 2014 Take Me To The River, a deep dive into the music and culture of Memphis. “Memphis told the American music story, Shore said. “New Orleans is a story of how World music was created.”

Speaking with Relix, Shore detailed the second single, “Stompin’ Ground,” off the TMTTR: New Orleans soundtrack, the video for which boasts footage from the film featuring some of the Crescent City’s finest recording the song in the studio led by vocalist Aaron Neville and produced by Eric Krasno.

The most amazing part of the “Stompin’ Ground” session and the song is how seamlessly and quickly all the musicians came together, but it’s no surprise when you are talking about New Orleans music royalty under the musical direction of Producer Eric Krasno! Aaron Neville, Charles Neville, Ivan Neville, Ian Neville, George Porter Jr., and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, were simply amazing. After a short rehearsal it was a one take wonder! Everybody involved was on their A-Game. ‘Stompin’ Ground’ really embodies what Take Me to the River: New Orleans film, record, and live show represents.
