Talented 13-year-old pianist Owen York has impressed with his medleys of songs by Umphrey’s McGee (with whom he played a soundcheck in 2016), Radiohead, Beck, The Who and David Bowie in recent years. York has unveiled another medley, this one combining songs from two of his favorite artists who recently passed away – Gregg Allman and Chris Cornell.

York starts the medley with the Allman Brothers Band classic “Midnight Rider” and continues on to Soundgarden’s hit “Black Hole Sun.” Owen throws in a reprise of “Midnight Rider” to conclude the brief medley. Watch Owen York’s “Midnight Rider”/”Black Hole Sun” medley:

Owen is the youngest member of the Rockland Youth Jazz Ensemble, consisting of elite musicians from New York and New Jersey. The ensemble’s next gig will take place at Maureen’s Jazz Cellar in Nyack, New York on June 11. Keep your eyes on York’s YouTube channel for future medleys.
