Trey Anastasio Gets Reduced Sentence for NY Drug Charges

Trey Anastasio
As we’ve been following the trials and tribulations of Trey Anastasio we have a new chapter to share. As Forbes.com is reporting, Big Red received a reduced sentence of three years’ probation following his successful completion of a treatment and counseling program.

Anastasio entered a guilty plea to a felony charge for possession of a controlled substance (painkillers) after being pulled over in December 2006 for driving erratically. The 43-year-old Anastasio’s sentence was reduced to a misdemeanor because of his upcoming completion of the drug program and subsequent hours of community service. Had he failed to complete his program he was looking at three years in jail. Anastasio served two days in jail earlier this year for missing a drug counseling session.

Trey currently has one show scheduled for the summer on August, 2 at the Newport Folk Festival in Newport, RI where he will perform solo acoustic.
