DVR Rewind | Bob Weir & John Mayer – Truckin & Althea

By Scott Bernstein Feb 6, 2015 6:30 am PST

Bob Weir is back! The Grateful Dead co-founding guitarist finally performed last night with axe in hand for the first time since cancelling months worth of tour dates back in August. Weir was the final guest on Thursday night’s episode of The Late Late Show on CBS featuring special guest host John Mayer.

Mayer brought out Weir towards the end of the episode for a quick chat that was followed by two performances. John mostly spoke with Bobby about the upcoming Fare Thee Well shows in Chicago and even presented Weir with a hand-drawn mail order envelope that he created the previous evening. The young guitarist had previously told Billboard that he would “make the pilgrimage (to Chicago) in my RV.” Bobby seemed in fine shape as he answered John’s questions and then joined Mayer, drummer Jim Keltner and a bassist for takes on Grateful Dead classics “Truckin'” & “Althea.”
