We’ve been patiently waiting for details of Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann’s autobiography to emerge and today is the day it’s finally been announced. Kreutzmann took to Facebook to announce Deal: My Three Decades of Drumming, Dreams and Drugs with The Grateful Dead is coming. The tome is expected to be released in May to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the group’s formation.

“A little more than two years ago, I sat down with Rolling Stone’s Benjy Eisen and we began to turn my stories into words on a page. Turns out, it was a very long story. More than 400 pages later, here’s the Deal. My ups, my downs, and the Grateful Dead’s all-arounds. Pre-order information available soon,” reads Kreutzmann’s note. We’re very excited that Eisen, a former JamBase contributor, helped Bill put the book together.

According to the publisher’s website, Deal “includes 30 black-and-white photographs throughout plus one 16-page color photograph insert” and the hard-cover spans 416 pages.
