Robby Krieger Guests On Doors Covers With Gov’t Mule In L.A.

The Mule focused on originals from throughout their 20-year career in the first set including an interesting pairing of “Thorazine Shuffle” > “Funny Little Tragedy” > “Thorazine Shuffle.” Though the guest spot from Krieger was announced before the show, an appearance from bassist Andy Fraser, a founding member of Free, was not. Fraser sat in on “Mr. Big” in the opening stanza.
Mule came out for the second set augmented by Krieger as they worked through Doors classics such as “Break On Through (To The Other Side),” “Peace Frog” and “Hello, I Love You.” Robby’s son Waylon joined in on guitar for “Five To One,” while Chinese-Jamaican bassist (and longtime Krieger collaborator) Phil Chen sat in on bass for “Roadhouse Blues.” The show came to a close with a “When The Music’s Over” encore.
