OTHERS COME TOGETHER FOR SPIRITUAL SET AT PURPLE HATTER’S BALL

Earlier this month lap steel wizard Roosevelt Collier and keyboardist Nigel Hall led a riveting Sunday morning set of gospel at the Purple Hatter’s Ball music festival. The fest was held at the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL and the special Sunday set was dubbed “Roosevelt Collier & Nigel Hall’s Gospel Surprise.”
While Collier and Hall led the set, they were joined throughout by Lettuce guitarist Adam Smirnoff and plenty of special guests including Lenesha Randolph (Robert Randolph & The Family Band), Pete Shand (The New Mastersounds), Jermal Watson (Dirty Dozen Brass Band), Jonathan Lloyd (Dubconscious) and The Shady Horns – Ryan Zoidis, Eric Bloom and James Casey(Soulive, Lettuce). The ensemble treated fans to a mix of traditional songs and stirring covers such as Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground” and “Grandma’s Hands” by Bill Withers.
Recently, a soundboard recording of the set surfaced on SoundCloud, giving us a chance to hear this incredible performance.
