Yusuf / Cat Stevens gave his iconic 1970 Tea For The Tillerman album a fresh coat of aural paint for Tea for the Tillerman². The famed singer-songwriter unveiled an animated video for the 2020 version of “Father & Son” from the forthcoming LP, which is set release on September 18 via UMe.
Stevens combined the original version of “Father & Son” with new parts to create a duet with his younger self. “‘Father & Son’ feels pretty appropriate for what’s going on right now, if you take the father figure as being the establishment,” noted Yusuf. “However, I don’t think revolutions are that kind to the previous order, its main objective is to turn it around and to get rid of them. Whereas I don’t personally believe in that; I believe in a kind of a change that would not necessarily destroy everything.”

Chris Hopewell, Jacknife Films and Black Dog Films put together a stop-frame animated video for the revised “Father & Son.” “It’s not often in the world of music videos that you get the chance to work with a truly iconic song not to mention artist. This track is so well known worldwide and means so much to so many people,” director Chris Hopewell said of the experience.
