Willie Nelson Shares ‘He Won’t Ever Be Gone’ Tribute To Merle Haggard Video

By Andy Kahn Apr 6, 2017 11:34 am PDT

On April 28, one day before his 84th birthday, Willie Nelson will issue his new album God’s Problem Child. The outlaw country legend has posted another video featuring a tribute to fellow legend of country music, the late great Merle Haggard.

It was one year ago today, on his 79th birthday, that Haggard passed away. The tribute penned by Gary Nicholson, “He Won’t Ever Be Gone,” is one of 13 tracks making up God’s Problem Child. Nelson teamed with his regular collaborator Buddy Cannon to produce and co-write several of the tacks on the former’s first album of new songs in almost three years. Tony Joe White and Jamey Johnson were also enlisted as co-writers and God’s Problem Child, which also features what is believed to be the final recordings by the late Leon Russell.

Willie is also part of the all-star lineup of musicians performing tonight at the Sing Me Back Home: The Music Of Merle Haggard tribute concert being staged at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Other performers include Keith Richards, Warren Haynes, The Avett Brothers, Loretta Lynn and many more.

Pre-orders for God’s Problem Child are available via Willie’s Pledgemusic campaign. Watch the video for “He Won’t Ever Be Gone” below:
