Despite previously announcing that he would begin his stint headlining the 2024 traveling Outlaw Music Festival tonight in Mansfield, Massachusetts, Willie Nelson pulled out of the show at Boston area shed the Xfinity Center. Once again, Lukas Nelson will cover for his father as part of a bill with Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss and Celisse.
“Willie Nelson is looking forward to seeing everyone in Camden on July 4,” reads a note from the iconic musician’s team on Instagram. “He will not be performing in Mansfield today,” the message continued with no explanation in regards to the reason for Nelson’s latest cancelation.

The 2024 Outlaw Music Festival began on June 21 at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Georgia. Willie Nelson will have missed the first eight stops of the tour after tonight. “We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days,” stated Nelson’s team when announcing Willie was out for the start of the trek.
Fans were relieved to see the 91-year-old musician was “cleared by doctors to go back on the road again” late last week with tonight’s show given as his return to the stage. Now, Willie is expected to headline his 4th of July Picnic in Camden, New Jersey on Thursday night, Independence Day.
