A new phase will soon begin for Lukas Nelson + POTR. The members of the band have announced they will take an indefinite hiatus after a series of summer concerts.

Frontman Lukas Nelson, the son of outlaw country legend Willie Nelson, is joined in the current Promise Of The Real lineup by drummer Anthony LoGerfo, bassist Corey McCormick, multi-instrumentalist Logan Metz and percussionist Tato Melgar. Lukas Nelson and Anthony LoGerfo put the band together after meeting at a Neil Young concert in 2008.

Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real released eight albums over the past 14 years including Sticks And Stones in 2023. In addition to constant touring under their own banner, the band also hit the road backing Neil Young for several tours between 2015 and 2019. The group also appeared in the 2018 film A Star Is Born and contributed to its soundtrack.

“After 15 unforgettable years, Promise of the Real has decided to take a well-earned hiatus, and begin a new creative chapter in all of our lives,” wrote Lukas Nelson and his bandmates in an announcement on social media. “Lukas plans to keep writing, recording, and playing shows, while the rest of us will continue to pursue our own projects and artistic ambitions. Expect to see a lot more great art from all of us in the near future.”

The group went on to state they “intend to work together again in the future, both individually and as a group.” Nelson & POTR have a handful of dates on the books this summer through an appearance at the JAS Labor Day Weekend Experience in Aspen, Colorado on August 30.
