Guitarist William Tyler‘s Music From First Cow soundtrack album will be released digitally via Merge Records this Friday, March 6. Tyler composed the music for the Kelly Reichardt-directed feature film, First Cow, which also has a March 6 release date.

The film’s soundtrack and score were written and performed by Tyler on guitar and dulcimer. Set in the early nineteenth-century Pacific Northwest, the movie stars John Magaro, Orion Lee, Toby Jones. Tyler will appear at a First Cow screening at Nashville’s Belcourt Theatre on March 31.

“William Tyler turned up at the First Cow edit room with his several guitars, a dulcimer, and long fingernails,” Reichardt said. “He got right to work, picking and strumming — it was all as good as it could be.”
