Wilco Goes Unplugged For Second Encores At Ryman

Earlier this week, Chicago’s Wilco brought their 20th Anniversary Tour to the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville for a pair of performances on Tuesday and Wednesday night. The band ended the show each night with an unplugged and generally unamplified second encores in the most famous home of the Grand Ole Opry.

On Tuesday night Wilco performed “Misunderstood” standing on the front of the stage without the help of the PA. Jeff Tweedy and Mikael Jorgensen strummed acoustic guitars, Nels Cline used a dobro, Pat Sansone played banjo, John Stirratt sported an acoustic bass and drummer Glenn Kotche gently tapped on his kit at times. The crowd joined in making it a singalong. Watch how it went down via fan-shot footage by Sam Reed:

Wilco repeated the feat on Wednesday night for a second encore of “New Madrid,” “California Stars” and “Give Back The Key To My Heart,” this time with Kotche on floor percussion, Jorgensen using a melodica at points and Tweedy not shying away from a lone microphone.
