Goose FACEs ‘The Office’s’ Jake Lacy In Wacky ‘Big Modern!’ Teaser Video

Over the past few weeks its become clear Goose are cooking up something. A guerilla marketing campaign is underway with the band officially confirming their participation today by posting a video starring actor Jake Lacy of The Office, Girls and The White Lotus fame.

The name of the project the foursome is promoting appears to be Big Modern! Whether the campaign is for a “Big Modern!” single, album, festival or another initiative remains to be seen. Posters with the title of the expansive Goose song have been spotted by intrepid fans on the streets of New York City, Chicago, Denver and Philadelphia. The same “Big Modern!” graphic featured on the posters is displayed at the end of the new video as a studio version of “Big Modern!” briefly plays.

Sleuths have also kept tabs on BigModern.com. The website has been flashing an exclamation mark in the same pink and yellow color scheme as the “Big Modern!” adverts. Currently, the pattern of flashes showcased is morse code for “FACE.”

Jake Lacy portrays a record executive in the video. The actor addresses the band with a swarmy pitch loaded with buzz words about embracing “integrated systems,” “roadmaps,” “growth hacks” and “through line/bottom line” by putting a “face on their face” for 69 minutes to rocket them to superstardom. The members of Goose — guitarist Rick Mitarotonda bassist Trevor Weekz, keyboardist/guitarist Peter Anspach and drummer Cotter Ellis — are shown sporting blank stares and t-shirts that together spell “FACE” in response to the marketing pitch.

The song “Big Modern!” was debuted by Goose at a Labor Day Weekend 2024 concert at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. “Big Modern!” was a jam vehicle right from the start with the first version spanning over 38 minutes. The song has been played 29 additional times since the premiere.
