Widespread Panic shared pro-shot video of their debut of Warren Zevon’s “Keep Me In Your Heart,” from the beloved singer-songwriter’s final album, The Wind. WSP dedicated the song to late Colorado concert promoter Bill Bass to begin their encore at Red Rocks on Sunday, June 25.

Bill Bass sadly died while on a fishing trip in Mexico on January 13, 2023. Bass had a longstanding working relationship and friendship with Widespread Panic. WSP’s Sunday show at Red Rocks saw the band dusting off “Fishing” for the first time since 2016, which kicked off a “Fishwater” > “Arleen” > “Fishwater” sequence to close the second set.

After the band returned for the encore, frontman John Bell addressed the audience.

“Well thank y’all for a lovely weekend,” he began before adding. “As most of you know, we’ve been paying mostly silent tribute to our friend Bill Bass who passed recently. I can’t begin to tell you how important he has been to Widespread Panic — definitely playing here, but playing anywhere. He’s one of those cats that you remember as…your life would be a whole lot different without him. So, this one is for Bill.”
