Widespread Panic Opening Vault For ‘Boone 1999’ Live Archival Release

After nearly five years since #12 came out, Widespread Panic is finally issuing the 13th installment of their Widespread Panic Archives series of live archival audio releases. Boone 1999 featuring the band’s April 22, 1999 show at the Varsity Gym at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina will be available for streaming and download exclusively via nugs.net starting tomorrow, Friday, August 18.

The latest Widespread Panic Archives release comes from the original multi-track recordings. Panic’s longtime producer, John Keane, professionally mixed the tapes for official release. Boone 1999 features the classic Widespread Panic lineup of guitarists John Bell and Michael Houser, bassist Dave Schools, drummer Todd Nance, keyboardist JoJo Hermann and percussionist Domingo “Sunny” Ortiz.

Widespread Panic’s visit to Boone came two weeks into their Spring Tour 1999. The sextet delivered two sets heavy on fan favorites including “Disco,” “Porch Song,” “Radio Child” and “Postcard.” Panic devoted much of the second set to a wild “Driving Song” sandwich featuring “Pigeons,” “Chilly Water” and “Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys” within.

Boone 1999 arrives almost five years after Widespread Panic released Northampton 1998, the 12th installment of the live archival series, in November of 2018. Audio of Boone 1999 will premiere via a free live listening party hosted by Widespread Panic and nugs.net. Head to nugs.net tonight, Thursday, August 17 at 8 p.m. ET to hear the whole show before it’s officially released tomorrow. The show will be issued on all other major streaming platforms on November 18.
