Watch Widespread Panic Cover Talking Heads’ ‘Heaven’ In 2011
Widespread Panic played a cover of Talking Heads’ “Heaven” to close out the first night of their 25th Anniversary Run in 2011. The sextet recently shared pro-shot video featuring the “Heaven” finale from February 10, 2011 at the Classic Center in Athens.
David Byrne and Jerry Harrison co-wrote “Heaven” for inclusion on Talking Heads’ 1979 album, Fear Of Music. Widespread Panic debuted their version on February 9, 1987 at Athens’ Uptown Lounge as per Everyday Companion. Panic included “Heaven” on the 1992 reissue of their debut studio album, Space Wrangler.
“Heaven” has been played a total of 322 times by WSP, including the most recent rendition on January 24, 2020 at Panic En La Playa Nueve. The band often performs the cover to end their concerts as they did on February 10, 2011 at the Classic Center. Widespread Panic celebrated their 25th anniversary with shows at the hometown venue on February 10 and 11, 2011 as well as a performance held at Atlanta’s Fox Theater on February 14, 2011.
