Widespread Panic kicked off a two-night run at Credit One Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina on Friday with local synthwave outfit Doom Flamingo opening the concert. WSP brought out Doom Flamingo’s lead singer Kanika Moore during the encore for a pair of powerhouse covers.

Moore emerged for the finale and fronted Panic on a compelling take on Buffalo Springfield’s classic “For What It’s Worth.” The guest vocalist remained and helped lead an energetic cover of Funkadelic’s “Red Hot Mama.”

Prior to Friday’s encore, Widespread Panic started the first set with longtime favorite “Pigeons” and sailed through the rest of the opening half with staples such as “Henry Parsons Died,” “C. Brown” “Space Wrangler” and “Big Wooly Mammoth” among others. The band rode “Love Tractor” into the break.

Set two began with a rarely played slow arrangement of “Porch Song” which was paired with “Blackout Blues.” WSP also coupled “Sundown Betty” with “Barstools and Dreamers,” wrapped a performance of “Second Skin” around “Tie Your Shoes” and linked “Protein Drink” with “Sewing Machine.” The set ended with the uplifting Jerry Joseph cover “Climb To Safety.”
