Widespread Panic Honors Vic Chesnutt & The Band At Red Rocks
By Scott Bernstein Jun 30, 2014 • 7:25 am PDT

The Georgia rockers brought their first set to a close on Saturday with four songs written by Chesnutt -“Aunt Avis,” “Degenerate,” “Protein Drink” and “Sewing Machine.” Later in the evening, they were joined by Madison Smith, one of their crew member’s daughters, for a take on Jerry Joseph’s “Chainsaw City” as the final song of the night. For yesterday’s traditional early-starting Sunday finale, Widespread Panic honored The Band at the end of the first set with a three-song run of “Ophelia,” “The Shape I’m In” and “Chest Fever.” The group had last performed “The Shape I’m In” back on November 1, 2013; while “Chest Fever” was last played on July 20, 2013. Widespread Panic now heads to Las Vegas for a three-night run at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
