It’s hard to imagine anyone had Widespread Panic releasing two studio albums on their bingo cards for 2024 coming into the year. Yet the suddenly prolific band will have pulled off the feat on November 8 when Hailbound Queen arrives.
Widespread Panic went nine years between albums leading up to the release of Snake Oil King on June 14. The sextet announced the long-awaited follow-up to 2015’s Street Dogs just a week before the six-song collection came out.

Today’s Hailbound Queen announcement is a much-needed breath of fresh air for Widespread Panic fans. The band has been off the road since June and canceled all remaining 2024 dates as guitarist Jimmy Herring undergoes treatment for stage 1 tonsil cancer.
Hailbound Queen, the band’s 14th studio album, will feature covers of Bloodkin’s “Trashy” and Warren Zevon’s “Keep Me In Your Heart” as well as originals “Halloween Face,” “King Baby” and “Blue Carousel.” All five songs have been played live by Widespread Panic.
Fish’s Morning Show on KMTN Mountain Radio will premiere “Trashy” this Friday, August 30 at 8:15 a.m. MT. Tune in online at kmtn.live or listen on the radio at 96.9. Replays will air throughout the long weekend. Widespread Panic will reveal more details on Hailbound Queen in the coming months.
