Ween stopped by Red Rocks on Thursday as part of their first extended tour since 2016. The band’s 37-song concert at the iconic Colorado venue saw some rarities as well as a host of classic staples.
Ween — Gene Ween (Aaron Freeman), Dean Ween (Mickey Melchiondo), Dave Dreiwitz, Claude Coleman Jr. and Glenn McClelland — launched their Red Rocks concert with the classic opener “Pork Roll Egg and Cheese” followed by “Exactly Where I’m At” and “Piss Up A Rope” from White Pepper and 12 Golden Country Greats respectively. A song that would have sounded at home on Country Greats, La Cucharacha’s “Learnin’ To Love” came next.

Although it has been in steady rotation since 2021, “I Wuz Nothin’” made just its 28th live appearance since its 2000 debut in the band’s hometown of New Hope, Pennsylvania ahead of The Mollusk cut “Polka Dot Tail.” Ween then reeled off a bevy of staples in “Roses Are Free,” “The Stallion pt 3,” “Gabrielle,” “Stroker Ace” and “Touch My Tooter,” and “The Mollusk” — which was prefaced by “Frank.”
Following a false start, the band delivered the Quebec favorites “Chocolate Town” and “I Don’t Want It” split by the White Pepper ballad “Stay Forever.” After “Ice Castles” and “The Final Alarm,” Ween embarked on another run staples with “Happy Colored Marbles,” “Spinal Meningitis (Got Me Down),” “Tried and True,” “Voodoo Lady,” “Bananas and Blow” and “Take Me Away.”
The spooky La Cucaracha cut “Object” came next ahead of Country Greats’ “I Don’t Want To Leave You On The Farm,” the latter played for just the 30th time since debuting in 1995. Next, the beloved “Mister Would You Please Help My Pony?” preceded the staple “Buckingham Green.” “Tender Situation” followed ahead of the very rare “Pollo Asado.” The track from 1991’s The Pod was played for just the 11th time since its live debut in 1995.
Gener read the spoken word lyrics perched atop of a stool with “one leg down and one leg up.” A crew member brought him the lyrics printed on paper and Gener decided to go sans music stand opting to hold the paper instead. “Pollo Asado” was followed by “Suckin’ Blood From the Devil’s Dick,” which marked just the 39th play for the song debuted in 1993.
The unreleased “Vallejo” then came ahead of the favorite “Your Party” to wrap the 33-song main set. Ween got the encore going with staples “Waving My Dick in the Wind” and “Don’t Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy).” The 1992 debut “Ode To Rene” then saw its 48th play before Ween wrapped their Red Rocks concert with the Country Greats closer, “Fluffy.”
