Warren Haynes Performs ‘Soulshine’ At The Carriage House

Warren Haynes played one of his signature songs, “Soulshine,” during a session held at The Carriage House in Stamford, Connecticut. The Gov’t Mule frontman shared the resulting performance, which can be viewed below, on his Instagram page.

Haynes went solo acoustic for the latest “Soulshine” video recorded at The Carriage House as opposed to a rendition recorded at the same facility for Rolling Stone in which he overlaid electric guitar. While The Allman Brothers Band included “Soulshine” on their 1994 studio album, Where It All Begins, the Warren-penned tune was first released one year earlier by blues guitarist/vocalist Larry McCray.

“Soulshine” was frequently played by the ABB during Haynes’ tenure in the band. Gov’t Mule also has the tune in heavy rotation. Additionally, Warren led a number of versions during his time in Phil Lesh & Friends.
