HAYNES REVEALS BAND MEMBERS AND WILL
ANSWER FANS’ QUESTIONS TOMORROW ON FACEBOOK

The Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration featuring Warren Haynes promises to be a special night of music, with the Gov’t Mule/Allman Brothers Band guitarist fronting orchestras from around the country on songs from Garcia’s impressive catalog. The tour kicks off next month in Pittsburgh and runs through a performance at the L.A. Greek on August 4.

In preparation for the shows, Haynes will participate in a Live Facebook chat tomorrow (Thursday, May 23) at 4 p.m. ET through the Jerry Garcia Facebook page. Post your questions on the page’s Facebook wall and he’ll answer as many as he can. Warren also revealed that former ARU drummer Jeff Sipe and bassist Lincoln Schleifer (Levon Helm, Donald Fagen) will play the shows with him. Plus, Warren Haynes Band vocalist Alecia Chakour and Pittsburgh Opera singer Jasmine Muhammad will provide backing vocals.

Here’s what Warren has to say about the shows…

“I’m very excited about doing these shows. We’ve chosen a very diverse list of songs from the extensive Jerry Garcia related catalog and in the true spirit of the original music will be leaving room for improvisation and approaching the symphonic arrangements from a non-traditional direction. We are also going to vary the setlists to some extent for fans that want to attend multiple shows. In addition to the full symphony orchestras, the rhythm section will consist of Jeff Sipe on drums, who – aside from being an old friend – has worked a lot with Phil Lesh and Friends and was an original member of the Aquarium Rescue Unit, and bassist Lincoln Schleifer, who was in the Warren Haynes Band in the early 90’s and who has worked with such artists as Donald Fagen and, most recently, Levon Helm. Alecia Chakour (Warren Haynes Band) and Jasmine Muhammad (Pittsburgh Opera) will be providing soulful background vocals reminiscent of the Jerry Garcia Band. This is a beautiful challenge for me and I’m honored to have been chosen as the first guest artist in what will hopefully become a continuing series.”
