Warren Haynes Returns To Lead Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebrations

After taking last summer off, guitarist Warren Haynes recently returned to the stage to begin a run of Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration concerts including opening night last Thursday, June 23 at Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville. Just as he did in 2013 and 2014, Haynes played Garcia’s iconic Doug Irwin-custom built guitar known as Wolf while fronting local orchestras in performing songs made famous by the late great Grateful Dead guitarist.

Longtime Jerry Garcia Band vocalist Jaclyn LaBranch was added as special guest for this year’s symphonic celebrations. Additional performers returning to support Haynes, LaBranch and the various orchestras included drummer Jeff Sipe, bassist Lincoln Schleifer and vocalist Jasmine Muhammad. In addition to opening night with the Nashville Symphony, so far the tour has also seen stops with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on Friday at Chastain Park Amphitheatre in Atlanta and last night in Highland Park, Illinois for a performance at Ravinia with the Chicago Philharmonic.
