By Andy Kahn Jul 27, 2019 6:32 am PDT

Warren Haynes performed on Friday in Newport, Rhode Island as part of the opening day lineup of the 2019 Newport Folk Festival. Haynes brought out Jason Isbell, Lukas Nelson and Jonathan Wilson for collaborative Bob Dylan and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young covers.

Haynes’ solo set also featured such favorites as “Patchwork Quilt” and “Soulshine,” as well as guitarist Audley Freed sitting-in on a bluesy version of the song Haynes wrote that was recorded by Garth Brooks, “Two Of A Kind, Workin’ On A Full House.” Warren closed his performance with Isbell, Nelson and Wilson joining on CSNY’s “Find The Cost Of Freedom” which transitioned into Dylan’s “Masters Of War” featuring the musicians trading verses.
