Over the past few days, Haynes has appeared on CBS News and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, while the North Carolina native’s new song, “Desiree,” is featured on the newly released soundtrack for the Landman television show.
Landman – Songs From and Inspired by the Paramount+ Original Series (Volume II) arrived today on all major streaming services. The series stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a landman for an oil company. Landman, which was created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, ends its second season this Sunday, January 18 on Paramount+.
Warren Haynes, The Red Clay Strays, Whiskey Myers, Shaboozey, , Lee Ann Womack and Colter Wall are among the artists who contributed tracks to Landman – Songs From and Inspired by the Paramount+ Original Series (Volume II). The set “further cements music as a core storytelling element of the series—bringing viewers closer to the lives, losses, and quiet moments that define Landman,” the press materials for the collection proclaim.
“Desiree” was written by Warren Haynes, Billy Bob Thornton and Mark Collie. The blues dirge is a mostly acoustic affair with powerful swirls of electric guitar interspersed at key moments.
