Watch Umphrey’s McGee Premiere Widespread Panic Cover With Duane Trucks
See UM unveil “Pleas” and finish up “Bridgeless.”
Umphrey’s McGee released pro-shot video of a Widespread Panic cover along with an UM original. The debut performance of “Pleas” and conclusion of “Bridgeless” with WSP drummer Duane Trucks took place at the Georgia Theatre in Panic’s hometown of Athens, Georgia on December 2.
Duane Trucks has been filling in for Umphrey’s McGee drummer Kris Myers at select shows while he recovers from shoulder surgery. The WSP drummer was a fitting choice for UM’s three-night run in Athens where Panic formed in 1986.
The Umphrey’s McGee premiere performance of the Widespread Panic classic “Pleas” kicked off the encore on Saturday, December 2, with guitarist Brendan Bayliss on lead vocals. “Pleas” was dedicated to UM friend Ralph in honor of his birthday. Umphrey’s then finished up “Bridgeless,” after beginning it in the second set, in triumphant fashion to close the concert and run.
