Umphrey’s McGeeUmphreys-McGee began a brief run of shows last night in Charlotte, North Carolina at The Fillmore where the band debuted a new cover. Fans in the Tar Heel state were treated to the band’s first attempt at ELO’s “Showdown.”
The night started with an opening set by J. Roddy Walston & The Business prior to UM taking the stage. Umphrey’s then delivered a career-spanning first set that began with just the seventh performance of newcomer “Hindsight” and closed with “Puppet String.” After opening set two with “Higgins” the group transitioned into ELO’s “Showdown” for the song’s debut UM performance. The new cover went back into the closing portion of “Higgins” with the rest of the set featuring “Believe The Lie,” “Wizard Burial Ground” > “Night Nurse” > “Bridgeless.” UM returned for an encore that included “Bright Lights, Big City” that segued into the end of “Wizard Burial Ground.”
Umphrey’s McGee play again tonight at House of Blues in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. TourGigs is offering a webcast of the show as part of the Grand Slam Couch Tour package. Head here for more information.
