Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Brendan Bayliss is well acquainted with Wrigley Field in Chicago, both as a Cubs fan and having performed the National Anthem and sung “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” at the Friendly Confines. Last weekend Bayliss got to explore another part of Wrigley Field when he performed from inside the historic ballpark’s iconic scoreboard.

Bayliss brought his acoustic guitar to Wrigley last Saturday, August 4 before the Cubs took on the Atlanta Braves. In a clip posted by UM manager Kevin Browning, Bayliss can be seen performing “Susanah,” which is a fitting choice considering it was co-written by fellow Cubs fan, the late Jeff Austin. The song appeared on their collaborative 30db album One Man Show.

Wrigley Field opened in 1914 but it was not until 1937 that the iconic, manually operated, hand-turned scoreboard was installed behind the outfield wall in center field. In 2020, Wrigley Field was designated a National Historic Landmark.
