On Monday night the Chicago Cubs defeated the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field in Chicago, but before the game Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Brendan Bayliss performed the national anthem at the ballpark. Bayliss presented a unique rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” for the Cubs faithful.
Brendan added elements of the Beatles’ “Blackbird” to his arrangement of the anthem. Watch video of the performance captured by IzeOfTheWorldPhotos:
Bayliss, a longtime Cubs fan, is no stranger to the cozy confines of Wrigley as he had previously sung the anthem at the historic ballpark. Last year, he also joined his band mates in leading the Cubs faithful in the traditional singing of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” between the top and bottom half of the seventh inning which famously began with late Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray.
