When Tunde Adebimpe announced his recently released debut solo album, Thee Black Boltz, the TV On the Radio frontman explained its title.

“[I]t’s a good name for a cool metal band,” Adebimpe said. “And I think that most people would describe me as akin to a very cool metal band.”

Last night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon saw Adebimpe bring Thee Black Boltz to life with a performance of the album’s track, “Somebody New.” Adebimpe’s TVOTR bandmate Jaleel Bunton was among the members of the backing band on Fallon.
