New Orleans trombonist Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews has rounded up a batch of his musical friends from the Crescent City to embark on the “Voodoo Threauxdown” tour this summer. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will headline each stop with the rest of the lineup varying by date and location. Galactic, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and New Breed Brass Band are the other groups set to support Andrews and his band on the run, which will also feature special guests Cyril Neville, Kermit Ruffins and Walter “Wolfman” Washington.
As for now, Trombone Shorty’s Voodoo Threauxdown is scheduled to start at Musikfest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on August 2. Then, the traveling festival visits Baltimore, Boston, Hampton Beach, New York City, Atlantic City, Bethel, Philadelphia, Lewiston, Vienna, Raleigh and Atlanta. A Midwest leg features stops in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Ravinia in the Chicago area. In September, Voodoo Threauxdown heads west with concerts confirmed in Oregon, Washington, Montana, Utah, California, Arizona and New Mexico.
