Monday’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert included a musical performance by Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews joining house band Jon Batiste & Stay Human. The collective covered a classic song penned by late New Orleans legend Allen Toussaint.
Introduced by Batiste as “my brother from another mother,” the NOLA natives teamed up to cover Toussaint’s “On Your Way Down.” The song was covered by Little Feat and appeared on their 1973 studio LP Dixie Chicken and has been played live by Phish a number of times dating back to the late-1980s.
