In January of 2018, Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio wrote an instrumental entitled “Till We Meet Again” as he was sitting at the bedside of his childhood friend Chris Cottrell. “CCott” died of adrenal cancer and a few weeks later Anastasio debuted “Till We Meet Again” at a solo acoustic concert held on February 8, 2018 at Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, New Jersey. Today, Trey posted a video featuring his performance of the song at home during the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic to his Instagram page.
“Just a guy in the hallway trying not to wake up his wife,” explained Anastasio in a note accompanying the video. Trey followed the debut of “Till We Meet Again” in Morristown four more times in February 2018 and six times that December during a West Coast solo tour. Anastasio played six additional versions this past October during his most recent solo acoustic run.
