Trey Anastasio Shares New Song ‘Lotus’

Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio unveiled the 13-minute new song “Lotus.” The track is the latest in a series shared by Trey while under quarantine over the past week.
“Lotus” features a drum part recorded by Phish drummer Jon Fishman. Anastasio co-wrote the tune with longtime collaborator Tom Marshall and documented the process of putting the track together on his Instagram stories.

“In quarantine, you tend to think a lot. The fate of humanity…what’s going to happen?” Trey & Tom started a note accompanying the lengthy composition. “This song is about escaping earth, to a different planet, and arriving to find a civilization that has advanced enough to survive its flaws, but in the process, has lost its ability to experience beauty love, art, and even hope. They’ve sacrificed all their flaws in favor of being completely transparent,” added the pair with wishes of “love, health and hope.” Check out “Lotus” below:
