Trey Anastasio posted official video of “Roll Like A River” from Trey Anastasio Band‘s show at the Chicago Theatre in Chicago on Friday night. The ballad came towards the middle of TAB’s second set during the group’s first of two nights in the Windy City.
“Roll Like A River” was written and recorded by the Phish guitarist for his 2022 acoustic album, Mercy. TAB debuted the sentimental song live on May 8, 2022 at Roadrunner in Boston. Six additional versions followed as well as a solo take at New York City’s Beacon Theatre back in August.
Jennifer Hartswick, James Casey and Natalie Cressman put their horns down to focus on gorgeous harmony vocals for “Roll Like A River” in Chicago. Anastasio delivered an emotion-laden solo reminicient of his work on “Wading In The Velvet Sea” to bring the song to a close.
