Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio‘s Divided Sky Foundation is nearing the finish line for opening The Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program in Ludlow, Vermont. The substance use disorder (SUD) treatment center dedicated to helping those affected by alcoholism and addiction has made it through the permitting process and if all goes as planned will open its doors by mid-2023 as per a note on the nonprofit organization’s Facebook page.
“We are excited to announce that renovations have begun on The Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program in Ludlow! Having finally cleared our permitting hurdles, we have begun making improvements to the building including adding an elevator and other ADA accommodations, creating meeting spaces, adding some new flooring, and a fresh coat of paint,” started the Divided Sky Foundation’s post. “The Divided Sky Residential Recovery program will be an educational 501(c)3 nonprofit recovery retreat dedicated to providing supportive, informative, and compassionate programming to individuals and their families affected by addiction.”
Trey Anastasio, who has been sober for over 15 years, launched the Divided Sky Fund in 2020. Over $1.2 million was raised from donations received during Trey’s The Beacon Jams livestream concert series held on eight consecutive Fridays between October 9, 2020 and November 27, 2020. The money from an arm of Phish’s WaterWheel Foundation is going towards establishing the facility in Ludlow, Vermont.
Those looking to help can apply to be a volunteer or donate to The Divided Sky Foundation. “We cannot thank you enough for your unwavering support,” continued the announcement shared today. “At a time when opioid and alcohol addiction and deaths continue to climb, our work is more important than ever. We are honored to have you with us as we move forward toward opening our doors. Please be on the lookout for an official Divided Sky Foundation website launching soon with project updates.”
