Trampled by Turtles hit Red Rocks on Thursday. The career-spanning set included a rendition of John Denver’s iconic “Rocky Mountain High” with opening act Josiah and the Bonnevilles (Josiah Leming).
The location-appropriate cover arrived as the 16th song in Trampled by Turtles’ set. “This is a bit of a sing-along but you gotta bear with us cause we all just learned this song today,” TbT frontman Dave Simonett said, adding “This was a last minute decision.”
Sometimes last minute decisions are the best. Watch Trampled by Turtles + Josiah and the Bonnevilles perform “Rocky Mountain High” at Red Rocks below:

TbT kicked off their set with “Widower’s Heart” off their 2012 album, Stars and Satellites. Fan-favorites performed included a pair off tracks of the Duluth-born string band’s 2005 record Blue Sky and the Devil (“Codeine,” “Silver and Gold”).
Along with “Rocky Mountain High,” TbT also covered Faces (“Ooh La La”) and Bob Dylan (“Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”). The latter kicked off the encore followed by the standout “Whiskey” off the band’s 2004 debut album Songs from a Ghost Town. Trampled by Turtles sealed the show with “Wait So Long” from their latest studio LP, October 2022’s Alpenglow.
Trampled by Turtles will keep it in Colorado for their next two concerts. Scroll down for their tour routing and ticket info.
