By Andy Kahn Jun 25, 2015 • 7:36 am PDT

Earlier this year saxophonist and composer Kamasi Washington released his debut album, The Epic. At nearly three-hours, the triple LP released on Flying Lotus’ label Brainfeeder, immediately brought Washington critical acclaim. Washington has announced an extensive world tour in support of The Epic.

The Los Angeles native who has recorded with the likes of Stanley Clarke and Kendrick Lamar will begin the U.S. portion of the tour on July 30 in Seattle. A stop at the Pickathon Festival in Oregon on July 31 is followed by three shows on the East Coast before Washington heads back to the West Coast for a performance at San Jose Summer Fest on August 9. More East Coast dates follow with a two-night stand at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City on August 24 and 25. A show in Las Vegas on September 15 precedes two nights in California on September 18 and 19. A break in October comes before Washington sets off on a tour of Europe throughout the month of November with stops the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and England.
