Toto Reunites With Founding Member David Paich At Hollywood Bowl Debut Concert

Toto brought their “Dogz of Oz” home to Southern California this past weekend for a show at Rancho Mirage’s Agua Caliente Casino on Saturday and their first-ever performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Sunday. Both concerts saw the legendary band welcome founding keyboardist/vocalist David Paich to share the stage on the final three songs of the night.

David Paich and late drummer Jeff Porcaro started Toto and brought in other members including current guitarist Steve Lukather before the band entered the studio to record their self-titled 1978 debut album. Paich wrote or co-wrote many of the band’s most popular songs including “Hold The Line,” “Rosanna” and “Africa.”

In 2018, David Paich stepped down from Toto’s touring lineup due to health issues. Paich made a few appearances with the band in 2019 and then joined Toto for a cameo at a 2022 concert in Sacramento. The keyboardist/vocalist resides in California and used the opportunity of Toto performing in the state to make his return to the stage.

David Paich took a set behind a keyboard set up center stage in Rancho Mirage while wearing his trademark top hat. Paich sang and played with the band on a cover of The Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends” on Saturday before lending a hand on “Rosanna” and leading Toto through “Africa.” The musician reprised the guest spot at the Hollywood Bowl with “Home Of The Brave” swapped in for “With A Little Help From My Friends.”
