Tony Iommi Confirms New Album ‘From The Dark’ & Shares Cinematic Single ‘World Alone’

Black Sabbath legend Tony Iommi confirmed a new album, From The Dark, arriving on October 23 through BMG. The guitarist also shared the lead single, “World Alone.”

Coming on the heels of Black Sabbath’s final concert last year, Tony Iommi’s From The Dark sees the guitarist bringing musicians Jorn Lande (vocals/lyrics), Becky Baldwin (bass) and Karl Brazil (drums) together to cut the record. Iommi worked with longtime collaborator Mike Exeter to produce From The Dark.

“It’s an album we’ve really enjoyed making,” Tony stated. “We’re not trying to prove anything – it’s a great album, it rocks!”

From The Dark marks Iommi’s first solo album in over 20 years, following 2005’s Fused. Previewing the seven-track record is the lead single “World Alone,” which press materials detailed:

“World Alone” is a thunderous rock song that speeds along on a barrage of flying guitar riffs and solos, backed by a driving rhythm section and topped off with the powerful rock operatics of acclaimed Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande. The video is based around a retrofuture, dystopian universe where the lead protagonist, The Believer, is pitched into a twisted video game to save his life and ultimately find salvation.

The Ryan Mackfall-directed “World Alone” video plays more like a short film, enhancing the cinematic nature of the track. Watch below:
